Control, Remedy Entertainment’s latest IP, has officially achieved 10 million players, marking a significant milestone for the action game. This has given Remedy the confidence to keep working on Control, with a new large budget entry currently in the works. Control’s revenues were somewhat higher in Q2 2021 than they were in Q2 2020, according to a new investor letter delivered today.
On the other hand, the game did not sell ten million copies. The game was previously available for free on the Epic Games store, and the Control: Ultimate Edition was released on PS Plus in February when it was released for PS5. Control is also included with Xbox Game Pass, which according to Microsoft has over 23 million users as of April 30, 2021.
Remedy is also nearing completion on its upcoming AAA project, which it is developing in cooperation with Epic Games. This comes as work on CrossfireX and its narrative mode nears completion, with a release date set for later this year, according to Remedy. A smaller project presently in development, as well as the studio’s free-to-play title Vanguard, which is still in active development.
