When it comes to MOBA, one of the longest standing titles of entire genre is definitely Heroes of Newerth. Came out in 2010, it was one of the biggest rivals of Dota and League of Legends back in the day. Especially liked for being closer to Dota in terms of mechanics and gameplay, Heroes of Newerth never enjoyed a huge fame compared to other two.
Last year, developers confirmed that they were going to shut down the game on 20th of June, 2022. Yes, the day has finally come and they unfortunately kept their promise, shutting down the servers. While the early move towards free to play model kept them on the market for long years, it was not enough to keep the player base active and crowded.
