The Summer Games Done Quick event of this year was recently organised by the Games Done Quick team. A lot of games were played and a lot of speedruns were attempted during the event.

These events are organized annually and they always raise money for an international charity organization. This time though, one of the participants was actually bringing in a surprise that no one knew beforehand. One of the speedrunners called Mekazarium admitted to play a pre-recorded video instead of playing the game himself. After he admitted to do this, the video of Metal Gear Rising speedrun was removed by The Games Done Quick Team.

Games Done Quick events are normally held in public and in live-fashion but COVID-19 pandemic prevented these events from being organized in person during recent years. Due to this reason, some players are participating remotely and Mekazarium was one of them. He mentioned that he planned this intentionally.

After the news, the speedrunner was banned from the events permanently. Still, the event was successful and it raised 3 million dollars for the charity organization called Doctors Without Borders.
