Recently a tech demo made with Unreal Engine 5 just appeared online, and it shows us how great the open world environment of Spider-Man could look. This was spotted by Eurogamer, and the video is actually an Unreal Engine 5 take on an old Unreal Engine 4 project first shared by Lewis Fiford in January 2020.
Project is mostly about optimizing Spider-Man’s movements and animations, but some assets from Unreal Engine 5 was also used to demonstrate that the city also has a great potential. There are some occasional issues of course, as it is just a tech demo. Except these minor issues, it is very much promising for a small-scale project though. While not really comparable to Insomniac’s Spider-Man, future might bring fans a much better experience in upcoming years with such developments.
