Lost Ark came up with great hype but after some time the game succumbed to bots. Only after just a month, Amazon Games had to ban over a million accounts for using bots. Since the in-game economy was a very crucial part of Lost Ark, they had to take some serious measures with it.
Fast-forward a year, and Amazon Games is still keeping their fights against bots up. But some of the methods they used seem to be targeting the wrong people. Recently, a lot of negative Lost Ark reviews on Steam revealed what was going on. The anti-cheat mechanism was banning inactive players and this ban was being visible on their public Steam profile. Obviously, people were very unhappy with it. Many players bombed the reviews simply saying “I haven’t even logged in for months and I was banned, besides I am now declared as a cheater for no reason”.
Amazon Games noticed the problem and stated that “they are aware of this issue and working to reverse it.” They also mentioned that people who are banned incorrectly are welcome to create a Ban Appeal ticket for support team and they will be assisting them.
