Nintendo seems to take some aggressive measures against all kinds of cheating and piracy for Splatoon 3. Game is still weeks away from the release date but a dataminer called OatmealDome found out some of the anti-cheat measures taken.

According to the explanations, Nintendo is acting swift and sharp against whoever plays a modified version of Splatoon 3, including enforcing total bans from the Nintendo Switch Online service. OatmealDome said that he is not going to give much details about the system as the security relies on obscurity of the system.

While the modifications to the game have their own reasons and goals, they are all unauthorized and not permitted in the end so Nintendo is unsurprisingly banning them all as soon as they detect them. Splatoon 2 was also able to do this so it is not really unexpected. Still, it does not stop people from trying to modify the game somehow. After decades of gaming, it may be correct to think that hackers and cheaters will stay like an uncurable disease of the industry until gaming is over.
