Steam Deck began its journey with a lot of reservations waiting in line, and it took Valve a great amount of time to go through the orders and shipments. In recent months, we were hearing better news as Valve was able to shorten the list of reservations and even surpass their own expectations for quarters of 2022.

Finally, we officially heard Valve has removed the requirement of reservations completely. They have increased their volume of manufacturing to the point of eliminating the need of reservations, and everyone can buy a Steam Deck without waiting in line. But Valve reminded that if the amount of orders increase to a point they can not catch up, reservations may be needed again. Until then, buyers will be able to order a Steam Deck and receive it without much hassle.

In the meanwhile, Steam Deck is moving towards new countries as it was not globally available before. Reservations for Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong are open now. While the Steam Deck is still a new thing for many people, Valve already mentioned that “the next-gen Steam Deck 2 will be more open and capable”.
