Half-Life is a neverending universe, and today we are seeing another masterpiece coming in with happy news from this universe. A fan-made twin-stick Half-Life game called Codename: Loop has received permission from Valve and it will be released on Steam when it’s ready.

The mod uses Half-Life 1 assets used by GoldSrc engine thanks to the perfect compatibility in Unity with BSP file format. BSP file format is the one used by original Half-Life. This means that the game will actually have a native feeling of the legendary FPS. While the gameplay video shows us an isometric camera perspective, the engine supports third-person and first-person views too.

Since the BSP compatibility is there, a lot of modders will be able to also mod this game too, or create their own levels. Developer PinkyDev also mentions that he will do everything possible to support Steam Workshop.

Codename: Loop actually started out as a roguelike, but later evolved into something much bigger than that. PinkyDev is building an ambitious project here, but currently no release date is mentioned. Until then, you can follow the development of Codename: Loop on its ModDB page.
