According to the latest news, Xbox is refunding some Stalker 2 purchases due to the game being delayed to an unconfirmed future date. The development process for Stalker 2 was already an extremely difficult one due to the Russian invasion in Ukraine. Now the developers are facing another delay.
Besides issuing refunds to the previously existing customers, the company also removed the access to new pre-orders via the Microsoft Store. The studio was originally based in Kiev before the invasion began. A couple of months after the invasion began, they decided to carry the studio to Czech Republic partially, but not everyone managed to leave Ukraine. Therefore it was only a limited number of developers trying to push the project forward. Obviously, it is more than difficult to work on such a project when your life is torn apart by a war.
Some of the members in the studio stayed in Ukraine to join the volunteering activities and another group joined the armed forces. This alone tells how much war has impacted the studio alone. Previous release date was mentioned as 2023, but even that is not certain anymore.
